*After the election, two opposition parties, the Congress
of Democrats (COD) and the Republican Party (RP), questioned the high voter turnout and the counting process and formally
filed a court application to have the polls declared null and void, or to have all ballots recounted. On 10 March 2005, the
High Court in Windhoek ordered a recount of the ballots within five days of the judgment. Results of the recount appear within
the parentheses.
**Most Sources, including the government’s site,
gave the following sets of figures regarding percentage of votes received: SWAPO 75.1%, COD 7.2%, DTA 5.0%, NUDO 4.1%, UDF
3.5%, RP 1.9%, MAG 0.8%, NDMC 0.5%, and SWANU 0.4%. Invalid ballots constitute the remaining 1.4% of votes cast. Percentage
figures in the table above exclude the invalid ballots. This statement applies only to the percentage figures [not in parenthesis]
released before the recount.
