*In
the final results announced by the National Election Commission (NEC) on 31 August, the percentage of invalid/blank votes
cast were included with the "Yes" and "No" votes to determine the final outcome for each proposition. Following a challenge
of the results, the Supreme Court ruled on 20 September that the number of invalid/blank votes cast should have been excluded
from the final results released by the NEC. The figures in the table above reflect the final results after the Supreme Court's
ruling. **Though all four proposed amendments were voted on in the same referendum, the constitution requires that each
proposition be approved individually by a two-thirds majority of the electorate to be ratified. Proposition four met the requirements
for ratification, while the other proposed amendments were rejected. |
